This weekend I took a scenic detour. I was hoping to see some wildflowers, and I guess I wasn’t the only one. Some birds were flitting around, having fun.
Then one took a rest, in the perfect place for me to try and snap a few shots.
I love trying to get pictures of birds in flight, and have thousands of blurry shots known as my attempts.
But here was this beautiful bird. Sitting in a gorgeous patch of sunlight, right above the flowers that had caught my eye.
I set aside my desire to photograph the flowers, knowing they would still be there after the bird flew away. I shifted my focus to this unexpected treat, and enjoyed the moment.
I came home with twice as many memories as I’d hoped for when I took my detour… talk about a wonderful afternoon.
