Mealycup Sage

This flower had incredibly dynamic and striking color that drew the eye whether it was under full sun or braving a heavy drizzle.

I got help from Siri as well as Google in identifying this one as it looked like it could be one of several options, but I think the technology and I agreed on the right one.

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada

Per Wikipedia: Salvia farinacea, the mealycup sage, or mealy sage, is a herbaceous perennial native to Nuevo LeónMexico and parts of the United States including Texas and Oklahoma. Violet-blue spikes rest on a compact plant of typically narrow salvia-like leaves; however, the shiny leaves are what set this species apart from most other Salvia, which bear velvety-dull leaves.

When the wind and a heavy drizzle of rain conspires against a photographer’s attempt to take a picture that is in focus, and instead something beautiful and impossible to plan is captured.
From the drizzling rainy day… yet shows part of the flower so nicely.
